Curriculum
Three years of progressive training: surface anatomy and acupoint location (Y1), classical pattern differentiation and meridian theory (Y2), and supervised clinical practice with electroacupuncture, scalp acupuncture, and auricular acupuncture (Y3+). All technique work is documented under attending supervision before independent practice is permitted.
Modern integration
Every classical theory is paired with current biomedical perspective: meridian channels with fascial planes and connective tissue research, point selection with mechanistic studies on adenosine release, gate control, and central pain modulation. Students learn to read acupuncture RCTs critically — including the difficult conversation about sham controls.
Safety and ethics
Pneumothorax-risk points, blood-borne pathogen prevention, hygienic technique, informed consent, and cultural humility are non-optional modules. CAAHM follows the WHO Standard Acupuncture Point Locations and CNT (Clean Needle Technique) certification.
